GENERAL SURGERY

You will first have a virtual consultation with the surgeon, followed by an in-person assessment before surgery.
HERNIA REPAIR
What is a Hernia?
A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the muscle, often appearing as a visible bulge or causing discomfort with lifting, coughing, or standing. Most hernias do not resolve on their own and typically require surgery to strengthen the area and prevent future problems.
Open and Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive) Hernia Repair
Cambie Surgery Centre offers both open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) hernia repair options. Your surgeon will recommend the best approach based on the type and size of your hernia, your overall health, and your preferences. Both techniques are highly effective and are usually performed as day surgery, allowing patients to return home the same day. Recovery is generally quick, and most people are able to resume light activity within a few days.
GALLBLADDER SURGERY
Why You Might Need Gallbladder Surgery
Gallbladder surgery is performed to remove the gallbladder when it causes problems such as gallstones, infection, or inflammation. These issues can block the flow of bile and lead to pain, nausea, or digestive discomfort. Removing the gallbladder relieves these symptoms and helps prevent future attacks.
Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive) Cholecystectomy
At Cambie Surgery Centre, gallbladder removal is performed using a minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques. The surgeon works through several small incisions using a camera and fine instruments to safetly remove the gallbladder. This approach is highly effective and typically rests in less discomfort, smaller scars, and a faster recovery. The procedure is usually performed as day surgery, and recovery is generally quick, with many people resuming light activity within a few days.
